The genus Bupleurum, family Apiaceae, comprises about 200 species of perennial and annual plants native to Eurasia. Some species are: Bupleurum salicifolium, Bupleurum fruticosum, Bupleurum montanum, Bupleurum elatum, Bupleurum odontites, Bupleurum gibraltarium, Bupleurum lancifolium, Bupleurum baldense.

Common name: Hare's ear. This species is native to the Canary Islands.

They are evergreen, highly branched shrubs that reach 2 meters (6.56 feet) in height. The long lanceolate leaves are bluish-green in color. They produce abundant branched inflorescences with small yellow flowers. They bloom from late spring to mid-summer.
