Salvia x sylvestris is a fast-growing, erect, herbaceous perennial that reaches 60 cm (1.96 feet) in height. The aromatic, deep green leaves have serrated veins and margins. The attractive flower spikes have blue or white flowers. It blooms during spring and summer.

Hybrid Sage is used in borders, in light undergrowth, on dry, sunny slopes and in pots for patios and terraces. It combines very well with plants of the Achillea and Phlomis genus. It is ideal for Mediterranean gardens.

Salvia x sylvestris prefers full sun exposure but also grows in light shade. It resists light and occasional frosts.

The soil can be normal garden soil with organic matter and plenty of coarse sand to improve drainage. Wild Meadow Sage also grows in sandy or stony soils.

Always water moderately, waiting for the substrate to dry completely. Perennial Sage resists a few days of drought.

Fertilize with compost, humus or manure in autumn.

It is advisable to prune it intensively after flowering, cutting back to the leaves at the base.

Salvia x sylvestris is a plant that is quite resistant to the usual pests and diseases, but can sometimes be attacked by aphids, whiteflies or scale insects. It is also sensitive to excess humidity.

Hybrid Sage is propagated by dividing the plant or by cuttings.
